The Terminator gallops into ‘Elizabeth’ reckoning

The Barbados-bred five-year-old had a smart gallop at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, yesterday morning over 400 metres, which was timed in 24.32 seconds, and must be one to keep an eye on in the 1350 metres race.

Also showing some spark was Le Fabuleux Dansur who covered the same distance in 24.86 seconds and is definitely on the upgrade.

Jamaican-bred Francesca who is also in the Glen Smith Trophy opener over 1100 metres on the turf course stepped 600 metres in a handy 39.44 seconds.

But the best gallop over this distance came from Harbour Master who completed the trip in a fast 36.46 seconds from the boxes.

Millionaire got back in 38.08 seconds for the trip and The Negotiator had a handy run in 39 seconds flat. There was not much activity on the course yesterday as most trainers completed sharpening up their charges for tomorrow’s Smith Engineering Company Limited "Stars of Santa Rosa" (Jetsam Awards) Day nine-race programme.

Managing director of the engineering firm which will be celbrating their 15th anniversary is Richard AJ Smith an ardent turfite and second vice-president of the Arima Race Club, who only on Day Two, January 14 last, of the season watched his American-bred filly Ice Timber cruise to victory.
