International School whip Hype 66-29


HOBY TEMPLE scored a game-high 29 points yesterday to guide the International School to an impressive 66-29 victory over Hype in the Premier Division of the NGC-Express Secondary Schools Basketball League (SCBL) at the Jean Pierre Complex, Mucurapo.


International School, the defending champions also got 20 points from Luther Wilson while Jivonne Gittens top scored for the losers with six points.


In the Under-20 Division however, it was all St Mary’s College who got full points from a convincing win over Success-Laventille Composite.


The college boys triumphed 42-36 but were made to work hard.


Kyle Rowley led the way for CIC with 15 points, and with the Laventille unit placing their emphasis on him they allowed Derron Sandy to net 14 points.


Success-Laventille would feel that they had done their best but it was not to be their day. In their defeat Kevin Samuel got 10 points and his team-mate Jameel Hills made 13.


Meanwhile St Anthony’s College also secured victory in the Under-15 category when they got the better of Fatima 33-28.


Akil Tinto got a workman-like 13 while Mickel Constantine added just nine but it was still good enough on the day.


For Fatima College, Brandon Houllier scored eight points and Anthony Cape six but they may prefer to use the experience to prepare them for their next clash later on this week.


Action in the league continues tomorrow with the Russell Latapy High School taking on Belmont Junior Secondary in an Under-15 encounter at the Jean Pierre Complex while Queen’s Royal College (QRC) and Belmont Secondary will clash in a crucial Under-17 showdown in the second match of the day.


In the Premier Division St Anthony’s will face Tranquillity Government Secondary in a key match.
