Minshall unveils new designs
Mas designer Peter Minshall unveiled the designs of his Mas presentation for the 2006 Carnival entitled "The Sacred Heart," at Veni Mange’s all-inclusive Carnival Fete at Pier 1, Chaguaramas, on Sunday. Hearts of Hearts, Hope, Fear, Darkness and Vengeance, Heart that Rings, as well as Bruised, Broken, and Genuine Hearts, were all on display and there was another section that Minshall said could not be among those nine sections. That section is called "Greed and Power." One of the inscriptions on display on Sunday that describes Minshall’s Mas goes as follows: The Sacred Heart — A Band of Urban Samurai Warriors, Cowboys and Girls, Studded and Adorned, Red White Black, Black and Blue Bringing a Message. Another inscription read: The Bruised Heart, The Broken Heart, Our Nation, Our People, Our Sweet TNT. When asked last week about the title of his presentation, "The Sacred Heart," Minshall was unapologetic for his choice of title. He stated yesterday that he had too much work to do to be caught up in a Catholic controversy. He said, "I cannot be distracted. The work is coming from the goodness of my heart. Catholic is universal and the sacred heart is in all of us." On Carnival Monday, masqueraders will be instructed to wear their own denim jeans which can be decorated by Meiling, and a sexy black bra top or close fitting black top. The price of costumes ranges from $900 to $1,900. Meanwhile, the Callaloo Company is seeking the services of Kees and The Band, 3 Canal and Allison Hinds to provide road music for the band, but those contracts are yet to be signed.
