Bravo likely to miss one-dayer

The 22-year-old Bravo, who left the field with the injury during the New Zealand innings in Twenty20 fixture at Eden Park Wednes-day, missed the team’s final practice session on Thursday ahead of today’s match.

His situation has been further compounded by the fact that he has come down with a bout of flu. Bravo’s intelligent bowling, sound batting and sharp fielding qualities will be a huge loss to the West Indies as they seek to start their tour on a positive note.

In recent time, he has been one of the brightest spots in a team that has struggled to make their mark on overseas tours. Vice-captain Ramnaresh Sarwan, who missed the Twenty20 fixture earlier in the week after being sidelined with flu, practised with the team and could be available for selection.

Left-handed batsman Wavell Hinds, who also suffered a side strain and did not take any part in the New Zealand innings of the Twenty20 game, also practiced with the squad, raising hopes of his availability for the encounter.

West Indies played New Zealand at the Westpac Stadium at 9 pm last night Eastern Caribbean time.
