Perkins blazes century in Carib Shield
WEST INDIES Under-19 wicket-keeper/batsman William Perkins blazed a quick fire century for W Connection Wanderers in their Group "C" Carib Shield 20-over-per-side encounter against Endeavour Sports at Gilbert Park, Couva yesterday. Perkins raced to an unbeaten 111 off 64 deliveries, with eight fours and five sixes, as Wanderers reach-ed 188 runs for five wickets off their allotted 20 overs. In the other Group "C" clash, CLICO Preysal edged Tile It Central Sports by nine wickets at Presentation College Ground, Chaguanas. Ex-national Under-19 opener Satish Naidoo topscored with 66 as Preysal, taking first strike, posted 152 for seven while Anderson Bryce claimed three wickets for 19 runs as Central Sports were restricted to 143 for six. In Group "A," former West Indies batsman Lincoln Roberts was undefeated on 85 as Ceramic Merry Boys amassed 181 for four versus Defence Force at Chaguaramas while, WI youth team all-rounder Kieron Pollard scored 53 as Queen’s Park struggled to 113 for nine against Invaders Sports at the St Mary’s College Ground, St Clair. British American Aranguez Sports were only able to muster 82 for seven versus Alescon Comet at Pierre Road, Charlieville in Group "B", and Joe Public Munroe Road posted 154 for four away to Las Lomas with Kapil Harry hitting 49, Aaron Ragoonath 23 and Anil Barlo 22, while Anthony Phillip took two for 23. In Group "D," PowerGen Sports made 143 for eight against Couva Sports at the Couva Junior Secondary Ground, with WI Under-19 vice-captain Jason Moham-med scoring 33, Samuel Badree 29, Ahmed Mohammed 24 and Denzil James 21, while Vishal Jattansingh grabbed two for 32. The battle between Mayo Valley Boys and FCB Clarke Road at Union Hall will be contested today. With the exception of the Preysal-Central Sports fixture, all other matches will end today.
