In the poet’s circle
Under the theme “Anchoring the future Youth in Focus,” the Circle of Poets of Trinidad and Tobago and the Rapso Movement held the celebration in collaboration with the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs to promote reading and writing skills among the youth.
Some of the night’s performers had the audience captivated with their recitals, like Ivory, a young woman who was so passionate with her poem about the unwanted smelter plant in Trinidad and how it is affecting the lives of the individuals living there. Then came Shakella who just before her performance said, that all is not negative because the plant brings revenue to that community.
Soca artiste Maximus Dan had every one on their feet dancing to his songs. Guests in attendance included Minister of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs, Senator Joan Yuille-Williams, novelist Earl Lovelace and Finber Ryan, Director
of Culture.
