Cadiz holds meeting on refrendum

In an informal setting at Mary Street, St Clair, yesterday, Cadiz explained the difference between a “Referendum,” and an “Election” which he said is usually tainted by race and party symbols.

“Through these meetings we want people to buy into the whole concept of a “Referendum” on their own. We do not want to use fancy marketing strategies to confuse them. Let people stand up for their rights.

“Nothing is wrong with supporting a particular party but not blindly, that is not right and who says because you are a card-carrying member of a particular party you have no voice.”

Ballots will be mailed to every person on the Electoral List by April 24.

The Committee needs a total of 300,000 ballots to be “home free,” which will be sent to President Max Richards. “Again we know there is not much he can do but we need to present them to someone with the hope that the politicians will realise, finally, people are not dealing with race and party politics that we will go beyond that now,” said Cadiz.

Donations are being asked in the form of money, time or kind, to fund this two million-dollar project.

The Referendum’s office is at 73 Ariapita Avenue, Woodbrook.
