MAN Dies in Highway Crash

Kumar, a driver employed with DS Maharaj Furniture Limited at Marabella, was travelling in a Toyota Hilux owned by the company along the south-bound lane of the highway when the accident occurred, in the vicinity of the Gasparillo flyover.

Awoman who was driving behind Kumar told his relatives and the police that Kumar lost control of the van after he “got a bad drive” from another vehicle.

Witnesses told police Kumar’s vehicle overturned four times times along the busy highway and landed on the north-bound lane.

Motorists contacted police and Emergency Health Services and Kumar was rushed to SFGH.

Kumar’s brother, Radesh, said his brother sustained eight broken ribs, a cracked skull, a punctured lung and fractures to both legs. Radesh said his brother went to Point Lisas where he had serviced the truck and was returning to his workplace at Marabella. Suresh, Radesh told Sunday Newsday, was engaged to be married later in December to his fiance, Melissa Harrilal, 20, also of Princes Town. The relative said Kumar was a “very friendly and down-toearth person” who enjoyed life.

St Margaret’s Police are continuing investigations.
