Maharaj knocks Govt over crime, poverty

In a release, Maharaj extended sympathy and condolences to the family.

“This is a difficult period in their lives. It is unbearable for anyone to grapple with the facts of this murder. They certainly arouse feelings of anger.”

Two boys have been charged with the murder. Maharaj said the murder and current state of the country showed the nation was losing its soul. He said the past four years have shown that Government cannot provide the required leadership to save the nation.

“Notwithstanding the promises made by the present Government, over the last four years the crime problem in our country has become four times worse since the Government took office four years ago,” Maharaj said.
