Kidnap victim speaks
Imran Hosein, who managed to escape from his abductors, recalled his experience during a RBTT Young Leaders symposium yesterday. He said he prayed every day for his release and for the strength to deal with the situation for the rest of his life. Hosein was kidnapped from his Trincity home last April.
Hosein’s mother, Christine who also spoke at the symposium blamed a lack of parenting in the country for the state in which it is in today.
She addressed students of St Joseph Convent, St Joseph, during the RBTT Young Leaders symposium entitled, “A Tribute To Life” which took place at the school’s hall. Hosein said if TT continues in the way in which it is heading, then families will fail to produce leaders, and there will be further crisis in leadership.
“Crime will increase and remain unabated, while our quality of life will diminish. We need to discipline our children and embrace family values once again,” said Hosein.
She said the basics of ethics and morals are needed, and TT must understand that family values teach what is right from wrong. “We can fail as a nation if we do not have morals and God in the equation. If parents fail to teach the morals of the community to their offspring, then the result would be a useless citizen who would turn into a problem citizen,” Hosein said.
