‘Miss Teen World’ contest in TT again
Pageant coordinator Mahendra Rampersad said the Miss Teen World pageant is one of the newest international beauty contest.
“The various countries have been doing their local Miss Teen contest but there is a need to get the competition to a higher level. This is why I decided to contact the countries and organise the Miss Teen World pageant,” he said.
Just after last year’s pageant, Rampersad began preparation for this year’s event. It’s been almost one year and now many of the delegates have already signed to participate in this competition, he said.
The Ministry of Culture has agreed to assist in this year’s presentation, Rampersad said. The organising committee is now inviting local sponsors to come forward and lend their support. The show will be carried live over the Internet.
On April 23 the Miss Teen World will be selected at the “Coronation Night and Crowning” at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya. Admission is TT $500 or US $85. The prejudging shows are scheduled for April 16 when the contestant will parade in national costumes at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Ballroom, Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain. The show starts at 8 pm and admission is TT $300 or US $50 and includes cocktails.
The swimsuit and intelligence contests takes place in Tobago on April 18. A “Talent and Evening Gown” contest on April 20 will come off at Paria Suites Hotel, South Trunk Road, La Romaine from 8.30 pm.
The contestants will begin arriving on April 14 and will come from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Hungary, Venezuela, Panama, Ukraine, Bahamas, Germany, Estonia, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Bahamas, Panama, Dominican Republic, USA, Colombia, Honduras, Barbados, Jamaica, England, Lebanon, Ecquador, Canada, Denmark and Magarita.
