Kendra to revive midday puja

According to the spiritual leader of the Kendra, Raviji, over the years Hindus in this part of the world have been conducting devotional services to mark this occasion at any time it suited them.

“The event commemorates the birth of Lord Rama who is the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the Preserver. Lord Rama, the main character of the Holy Ramayan, is a divine hero, worshipped by Hindus. And it is very important that devotees adhere to the time factor when the puja should be done,” he said.

Raviji said that Rama who was exiled from his kingdom provided a popular reference for jahajees (those who came from India) to manage their own exile and reconstruct a new home.

Lord Rama was born at midday in the Hindu lunar month of chaitra which falls in March-April. Due to circumstances, Hindus have had to commemorate this important day outside of the prescribed time and day. The kendra is making efforts to restore midday devotion as it is the most appropriate time for such prayers. “This will give unity of purpose to Hindus on a principled matter of religious and cultural equality. Rama has been at the centre, not only of our spirituality, but the fashioning of our identity and of our efforts in nation building,” he concluded.
