2005 World LNG Award goes to...

This unique Award was created to reflect the growing importance of LNG to the world energy market and is to acknowledge the company which has made an “Outstanding Contribution to the Development of the LNG Industry in the last 12 months”. Nominations are open to all companies, along the whole value chain involved in the LNG industry.

Last year the industry-led selection committee announced Cheniere LNG as the recipient of the Award. Cheniere was short listed on the basis of votes received by the industry and then by 16 members of an anonymous selection committee composed of senior industry executives from around the world.

Cheniere was a small exploration and production firm when it went public in 2001 with plans for three to four LNG receiving terminals on the US Gulf Coast.

It is now poised to be the largest operator of LNG receiving capacity in the US, with nearly ten billion cubic feet per day (75 million tonnes per year) of 100%-owned receiving capacity under development and a 30% stake in another 4 Bcf/d of capacity.

Upon being named the 2005 World LNG Award winner, Cheniere said “Cheniere is very happy to receive this award which expresses the appreciation of our industry. Over the last couple of years we have assembled a group of talented people from across our business to combine their efforts and create a new entity with the ability to make a difference. Most of the time we have been running so hard, we have had little time to assess our performance. It is gratifying to know that our colleagues respect us and appreciate our efforts.”
