‘Soldiers’ steal boat and fish
The incident which occurred on Tuesday is being investigated by police who yesterday said no arrests had been made nor was Mohan Ramnath’s boat and fish recovered.
According to reports, Ramnath, 50, a fisherman of Quarry Road in Siparia, alighted from his pirogue at a beach in Morne Diablo around 7.30 pm, when he was held up by four bandits all clad in black jerseys and Army camouflage pants.
With guns pointed at him, Ramnath was helpless as the bandits boarded his pirogue and sped off. The boat is valued at $50,000 while Ramnath told police he had approximately $1,000 worth of fish on board.
The fisherman made his way to the Penal Police Station where he lodged a report. Constable Sookraj is continuing investigations.
