Warner heads FIFA inspection team to Canada, Korea

Warner has been jetting around recently, having chaired the CONCACAF executive committee meeting in New York last weekend.

He was also a member of the inspecting team for ten cities in South Korea for the 2007 FIFA Under-17 World Championship.

Warner was honoured at a reception held by the Premier of British Columbia Gordon Campbell, and also met minister of tourism, sports and the arts Olga ILich and Mayor of Victoria Alan Loew. He visits Edmonton today and Ottawa tomorrow, before going on to .. Further meetings and site visits will then take place in Montreal and Toronto.

Warner departs for Zurich on Wednesday.

At the recent CONCACAF meeting first woman secretary Kerri-Ann Alleyne attended when it was agreed that at the Under-20 level, Mexico and Panama will each host a four-team CONCACAF Final Round Group with games due to take place in January/February 2007.

The top two squads from each of these groups will qualify for the FIFA World Youth Cup Canada 2007.

The six teams joining Mexico and Panama in the final round of qualification will coprise three teams emerging from Caribbean qualification taking place from July until October this year, the winners from the two Central American Triangular groups being hosted by Guatemala and Honduras in August, and; the USA. For the 2007 CONCACAF Under-17 Final Round Honduras and Jamaica will each stage a four-team group in April. The top two teams from each group will progress directly to the FIFA Under-17 World Cup Korea 2007. The two third-place finishers from each of the CONCACAF Under-17 Final Round Groups will meet in a home-and-away playoff series for the final Confederation berth to the Under-17 World Championship.

The Under-17 Final Round will comprise North Zone representatives Canada, Mexico and USA, one Caribbean team determined by preliminary qualification taking place in Trinidad and Tobago August 14-26 and two squads from the Central American qualification event in El Salvador from 10-22 October 2006.
