Curry duck lime at Manzanilla
The competition is held twice a year and attracts thousands of spectators and listeners of 103FM, who come to enjoy a day at the seaside along with live entertainment.
Executive director of 103FM, Yaseen Rahaman, said Maska Rhythms International will provide entertainment. The band will release their new album Rhythms Invasion at the event.
Maska Rhythms International will also back up a star-studded line-up of guest artistes including Rasika Dindial, Heeralal Rampartap and newcomer Ryan Estrada. Veteran chutney singer Sam Boodram and his group will also keep the tempo flowing with some of the hottest selections on radio today. The station’s announcers will be also be there.
A variety of local dishes will be on sale and patrons can choose from curry duck and paraatha, jerk chicken, shark and bake, roti, Indian delicacies and more.
On the competition end, cooks will be vying for cash, trophies and a stereo system along with several hampers and the official Champion Trophy.
Special prizes will be given out for the most original stove, best presentation and the largest cooking posse.
This year a special vegetarian dhal competition has been included. Admission to the lime is absolutely free.
On the entertainment side Maska Rhythms led by Rawytee Ramroop will be peforming some of the original Hindi songs mixed with pop and rock tunes.
Other musicians include Chaitraj Persad, Steve Boodhan and Rajesh Ramdial.
