Mucurapo, Bishop’sin Hoops Final Four
Both won their two opening matches and still have one to play. But with two wins they have guaranteed themselves places in the final four of the tournament.
Mucurapo, the tournament favourites with national youth captain Kensley Sandy and Kerry McMillian, the tournament leading scorer, in their line-up defeated Tobago All Stars 94-51 and Success/Laventille 99-53.
While Bishop’s with the talented Rory Arnold starring turned back Chaguanas Senior Secondary 70-40 and St Mary’s 84-64 after a tough first half.
Among the girls who are playing in this type of tournament for the first time in local basketball history, Morvant/Laventille, the 2006 North Zone girls champions and Tobago All Stars Team are set to book places in the final four.
Tobago impressed all when they won a competitive contest with Malick Secondary 43-38, a victory they recorded playing from behind with Krista Winchester and Diana Quashie.
Morvant/Laventille, meanwhile, were always in control in their match against Mucurapo, the 2005 national girls champion team. Joelisa Cooper scored 32 points, the most by any player in both the boys and girls divisions.
