Men and their guitars

Extempo champion Black Sage, Abebele, Cro Cro, Black Prince and Regeneration Now had the audience laughing with their theatrics as they strummed their guitars.

Abebele and Cro Cro gave outstanding performances, Cro Cro told the audience he was tired of Cro Cro and wanted to sing other people’s songs. This he did to their delight, performing songs by Sparrow, Lord Nelson, Brigo and others but the audience did not let him off the hook as they kept calling for him to do his songs. Of course he adhered to their request and sang several of his songs.

Abebele thrilled the audience with his version of “Feelings”, “Yesterday” and “Calypso Rising” before doing his football song “Vibes It Up”.

The programme presented on Wednesday proved that there are still people out there looking for authentic calypso.

Cro Cro’s response on the raging issue of who is a calypsonian is, “When they finish they will only find five true calypsonians and I am one of them.”
