Cops issue 415 tickets in Easter crackdown

The traffic exercises organised by ACP Mobile-Nazamul Hosein were aimed at dealing with errant motorists.

Figures from the Highway Patrol Section yesterday revealed that 395 tickets were issued between Friday and Sunday, while an additional. 20 tickets were issued between 9 am and midday by officers of the St Clair Police Station.

In the highway patrol exercises, 167 persons were charged with excessive speeding, one stolen vehicle was recovered, and three charged with possession of marijuana.

At Maracas Bay, 30 vehicles parked illegally were wrecked. Yesterday, in the vicinity of Chaconia Inn, in a traffic exercise coordinated by Senior Supt Errol Denoon and led by Sgt Ajith Persad, 20 persons were charged with traffic offences.

A 29-year-old Laventille woman was arrested and charged with trafficking in marijuana. She will appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate today.
