Mobile war continues
In advertisements in this weekend’s newspapers, bmobile phones, including the Nokia 1600 which were being offered for $199 before Digicel’s launch, are now being sold for just $39. From last Monday, Digicel was offering the Motorola C115, the Nokia 1108 and the Siemens for only $49, $150 less than the original asking price. By Wednesday these phones were all sold out.
The two parties also placed numerous ads, some even back-to- back, comparing their cellular rates.
“Don’t let high rates weigh you down,” stated bmobile in an advertisement in Saturday’s newspapers in which they compared their “bmobile to bmobile” rates to the competition’s “Digicel to bmobile” rates.
Almost as a comeback, Digicel, just a few pages away stated, “Don’t be fooled, nobody beats Digicel.”
Over the past week, hundreds of people have been dashing to the bmobile and Digicel outlets nationwide to get their hands on the cheap deals and this week is not expected to be any different.
