Death for killing girlfriend

The evidence of 20 state witnesses told the story of how Layne met her demise.

Her body was found at the back of a cow pen on the evening of May 23, 2003, with a knife wound to the throat. When called upon to give a defence, the convicted man opted not to do so nor did he call any defence witnesses. He was tried before Madame Justice Joan Charles at the Port-of-Spain Second Criminal Court.

The court heard how Cox pushed Layne through some bushes behind the cow pen. They fell into a ditch, where he killed her and attempted to take his own life.
