Jabloteh, Connection reach Pro Bowl final
In semi-final action on Friday, both teams needed kicks from the penalty spot to eliminate Defence Force and Neal and Massy Caledonia AIA respectively.
Defence Force went ahead in the 12th minute courtesy Devon Jorsling but Lester Peltier levelled the scores for Jabloteh in the 54th.
Jabloteh’s captain Kerry Baptiste gave his team a vital goal in the 80th, but the Army-Coast Guard combination showed their fighting qualities of late when Kevon Carter equalised three minutes from full time.
According to tournament rules, a match will go into penalty kicks if the scores are tied at fulltime. But Jabloteh converted all five attempts from Baptiste, Keyeno Thomas, Ronald Primus, Josh Johnson and Trent Noel, to advance by a 5-3 margin.
Connection and Caledonia were deadlocked at 0-0 after fulltime and, after the first stage of penalties, were tied at 4-4. But Caledonia’s Kareem Joseph missed his team’s first try in the sudden-death penalty phase, with Andrei Pacheco finding the target to send his team into the final.
