Badree slams Atlantic LNG century

Playing against the winless Diego Martin Boys RC in the Super League division, the consistent Badree contributed more than half of his team’s total of 167 for six wickets.

The all-rounder then took three for 11 as Diego Martin could only muster 87 for eight from 24 overs. Badree was named “Man-of-the-Match” for his fine display.

At the top of the table, defending champions, Clarke Rochard Government registered their fifth straight win with victory over Guayaguayare RC at Kennedy Park.

Batting first, Clarke Rochard were bowled out for 110 with main scores coming from Shane Arjoon (38) and Shamshudeen Mohammed (29).

Kevon Duncan took four for 18 for Guayaguayare, who could reached 104 for six in a match reduced to 29 overs because of rain. Arjoon followed up his fine batting with three for 18 for “Man-of-the-Match” honours.

Joint leaders after six rounds, Sangre Grande Hindu, had an easy victory over Mayaro Government at Mafeking. Mayaro made a paltry 60 all out from 22 overs, with Stephen Sooklal taking four for 12 and Ryan Baptiste three for 15.

Sangre Grande polished off their target for the loss of one wicket, with Sooklal making 38 not out, walking away with the “Man-of-the-Match” accolade. At Inshan Ali Park, Rancho Quemado won from Montrose Government in a nail-biting finish, winning by two runs with the match being reduced to 30 overs. Paced by Andrew Ramsaroop (19) and Andre Henry (15), Rancho Quemado made a respectable 104 for eight, with Kareem Lakraj (three for 17), Aleem Khan (two for four) and Sean Madoo (two for 15) among the wickets for Montrose.

Rancho Quemado’s Kinez Jacob was virtually unplayable, taking four for five from three overs, as Montrose ended up on 102 for nine.

Montrose were cruising at 71 for one when “Man-of-the-Match” Jacob, who bowled a double wicket maiden for the last over of the match, turned the match for Rancho Quemado.

After six rounds, Clarke Rochard and Sangre Grande are tied on 15 points, followed by Guayaguayare (12), Mayaro (ten), Rancho Quemado (nine), Rochard Douglas (seven), Montrose (three) and Diego Martin (0).

Matches in round seven will be played off today. The first four teams go on to the Big Four Semi-Finals scheduled for Monday, May 29.
