ACP Virgil: I’ll be back

ACP Virgil told Newsday that he was recuperating from a minor injury to his leg and expects to be back on the job soon.

The former Fraud Squad head who is now in charge of Special Branch, was taken to St Clair Medical Centre last Tuesday, after a gate fell on him.

ACP Virgil told Newsday despite a report from another daily newspaper which stated he broke down after suffering from stress, this is not so.

“I will be back on the job soon,” he assured. ACP Virgil was due to proceed on pre-retirement leave from the police service earlier this year and will turn 60 on November 28, when he will retire officially.

Newsday learnt the Police Service Commission (PSC) gave permission to ACP Virgil to work through his pre-retirement leave which was “bought out.”

He has several top profile matters pending before the Courts apart from his recent duties to probe allegations against the Chief Justice. Newsday learnt that ACP Virgil has been working from his home while he is recuperating.
