Fund-raiser to reward cricketers

With no word from the Government regarding the recognition of Daren Ganga’s team, the TTCB has taken a decision to host the dinner in order to raise funds.

The man in charge of the project is chairman of the Marketing and Promotional committee, Leo Doodnath.

The wellknown businessman said the players did a tremendous job in winning the regional double crown and the TTCB is trying their best to offer them some sort of monetary reward.

“We are looking to raise at least $60,000 for the national cricketers by hosting this dinner and so far I am confident that we can raise the funds. So far we have received a very good response from the corporate sector, as well as members of the TT Cricket Board and this gives me the optimism that we can realise a good sum to be shared by the players.

“There are still a lot of tickets available for the general public and I am making a call to all those fans to come out and support this venture. Our cricketers gave us so much joy this past season and we now have an opportunity to tell them thanks. “I remember going down to Guaracara Park for the finals and witnessing the great crowd on hand. If we can get even a fraction of that crowd to purchase tickets and attend the function, then it will be very successful,” Doodnath said.

In addition to the individual tickets, there are also tickets available to companies to occupy an entiretable. These are being sold in batches of eight.

The dinner will be served between the hours of 7 pm to 9pm and tickets are priced at $125.

TT won the Carib Beer Cup, as well as the Carib Beer International Shield, ending a drought of 21 years.
