Get with times, Catholic Church

The principal of a prestigious Catholic primary school in East Trinidad rejected an application of a single mother for her son to begin school there in September. This was not due to financial concerns (the VP approved the application), but due to the image it would portray, she rejected it. Is this the message the Church wants to send to its members?

The Catholic Church needs to come into the 21st century. I’m not talking about allowing priests to marry or gay marriages. I’m talking about understanding that many young members are having sex before marriage, and most are lucky not to get pregnant. I mean you are still teaching the Billings method right? What was my friend to do when she got pregnant, marry a man who did not want to be a husband far less a father?

At this rate the Church will lose its members to a more forgiving and all embracing “Christian church”. Catholic Church get with the times!

Then again this is an institution that only in 1992 gave a half-hearted apology to Galileo for believing the world was round!
