Valencia Heat in Arima b-ball final
On Wednesday the Heat rolled over the Sangre Grande All-Stars in the final match of the best of three series 65-50 to secure the final berth.
The Heat won the opening match but could not hold off the raging Sangre Grande outfit in Game Two last week.
But on Wednesday in the final decider they turned the tide led by the brilliance of Fabrice Fischer who downed a game-high 20 points on the night.
Fischer had the support of teammate Stefan Davis who also had 16 points to help spearhead the victory.
The Heat, not surprisingly led all quarters of the match, first taking a two-point 10-8 at the opening stanza and then polished off a 32-15 difference at the half.
With the performance of Fischer and Davis after the break, the Heat also secured the third period 47-31 before finishing the match with a flourish and securing the entrance into their first final of the season.
Sangre Grande hardly gave any resistance in the encounter, but when they did, it came from the fighting Joel Cruickshank who also topscored for them with 17 points, and Marlon Alexander who downed ten points.
But in the final of the Big Four in Division Two, the D’Abadie Revolution stole game one in the best of three play-off when they defeated the Success Village Pythons 95-68.
And with the win they literally placed one hand on the big four title thanks to Wayne Richards who had an impressive 32 points on the night.
Richards was everywhere in the match, as they led the first two quarters 22-15 and 48-28 at the half. The equally talented Kenyetta Alfred also scored 21 valuable points as the D’Abadie unit easily secured the other two periods — 67-42 in the third and 95-68 for the win in the final.
For Success Village, Pythons Kory Lee Hood was the top score with 25 points and Dexter Bridgewater had 15 in the losing effort. The result means that the Pythons will have to win the other match today if they are to level the series and force a third and final encounter.
