Arrival Day:

Chaguanas is buzzing with activities for Indian Arrival Day which will be celebrated on Tuesday. Tonight the National Council for Indian Culture (NCIC) will host a fund-raising dinner and cultural show from 6.30 pm at Divali Nagar site.

The performers include Shivanand Maharaj, Taradath Sawh and Narindra Maharaj.

The Mere Desh Committee (MDC) is hosting five-day agricultural expo which opened at the Mid Centre Mall, in Chaguanas last night. The expo will run from 10 am to 6.30 pm.

Under the theme, “Let’s Culture Our Lives With Agriculture,” the programme will feature paintings, literature, agricultural plants and booth displays highlighting the various aspects of agriculture in TT. On Tuesday there will be a cultural show and song contest competition which begins at 7.30 pm.

Chief coordinator Ajeet Praimsingh said there will be over 50 booths displaying a wide variety of plants grown here and in the Caribbean.

The expo will also conduct workshops for children and teenagers, a local song contest and display and sale of produce.

There will be several activities taking place at the Freeport Convention Centre. Visitors can view an old Indian film free of charge every night at 8 pm until Tuesday. The movie will be followed by a discussion on the arrival of East Indian 161 years ago.
