Gunmen rob supermarket

Three gunmen stormed into Jumbo Food Store, located on the Eastern Main Road, at about 8 pm, police report. One of them held a gun to the head of the security officer while the others proceeded to rob the cashiers.

The grocery was very busy at the time. The incident which lasted approximately half an hour left many of the shoppers traumatised.

The robbery is being investigated by officers of the Barataria Police Station.

Also on Saturday, a La Horquetta man was robbed and held against his will by bandits.

Police report that Charles Mc Gregor of Phase III, La Horquetta was unpacking groceries from his car at his Inshan Alley Avenue house, when he was held up by bandits, at about 11 pm. The two bandits, said to be teenagers, then held a gun to Mc Gregor’s head and stole his wallet and cell phone.

McGregor was then told to get into the trunk of his car.

The bandits got into the car and stopped at Phase I, in La Horquetta, where they fled the scene.

Mc Gregor then pushed his way through the back seat of the car and notified the police.

Neighbours who had heard the commotion and looked outside alerted the police.

La Horquetta police are continuing investigations.
