No charges for baby Emily’s dad

Senior homicide officers in San Fernando said yesterday that it would serve no useful purpose to charge Emily’s father. Officers added they are concentrating on the murder charge against Marlon King, 33, Emily’s stepfather.

The child’s mother Anita is in prison, charged with child neglect and other charges. Emily was murdered on May 15 at Marabella. An autospy revealed she was a victim of physical and sexual abuse.

Cabinet has appointed Justice Monica Barnes to investigate the death of baby Emily. Barnes was appointed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the child’s death and to also find out whether, and if so, the extent to which the existing systems may have failed in this instance.

Cabinet is expected to take every action necessary when Justice Barnes submits her findings.
