Ready Set Jet is set to zoom again

The Glenn Mendez-trained three-year-old speedster showed she has kept her form well after his convincing 2 3/4 lengths victory in the Grade 2, 1200 metres Santa Rosa Dash Handicap with a sizzling gallop on Thursday morning.

This daughter of Unbridled Jet/Mill Song left no doubt as to her ability and readiness for next race day June 10, galloping 800 metres in the very good time of 48.1 seconds.

Since coming to Trinidad, Ready Set Jet has flown past his rivals in her three previous races, with the winning margin 1 3/4 lengths on debut the shortest to date. Owned by the syndicate named The Jetsetters Stables, “The Jet” won her second start by an emphatic 8 1/2 lengths.

Apart from Ready Set Jet, the handful of horses seen out were only sent to do pace work, with rqacing taking a holiday Saturday after Tuesday’s Indian Arrival Day 12-race programme.

Meanwhile, turfites were still discussing the fluent 2 1/4 lengths victory by Sara’s Music in the Bookmakers Association Guineas Stakes, first jewel on the local Triple Crown, over 1800 metres on Tuesday.

Now they are debating whether the gelded son of Java In Flight/Indian Music which is trained by Robert Maharaj, will get the Royal Oak Derby trip of 2000 metres.

In the absence of two-year-old star All For Java who beat him in all but one start, Sara’s Music emulated his dam Indian Music (1996) in winning the Guineas, well-ridden by jockey Jody Arneaud to easily beat pre-race favourite Jacobite.

Gallops recorded Wednesday: (Going: Fast) - 400 METRES: ACTION - 29.3 pacing; GRAY WARRIOR - 29.3 pacing; PRIVILEGE - 29.0 pacing; TAIL OF THE STORM - 29.4 pacing.

600 METRES: CENTURION - 44.4 pacing; CHIEF COMMANDER - 44.4 pacing; WILD ABOUT BECCA - 44.4 pacing.

800 METRES: READY SET JET - 48.1 good.

1000 METRES: HYARIMA - 1:14.1 pacing; ST MIKE - 1:14.2 pacing.
