Strike Squad win Maloney opener

Marvin Faustin met a centre from Leonson Lewis in the 60th, and rifled in a first-time volley past new Maloney goalkeeper Bever Charles.
Ex-National midfielder Shurland David beat goalkeeper Ross Russell with a powerful snap shot in the 75th minute to reduce the scoreline. But the defensive wall of Strike Squad skipper Clayton “JD” Morris, Brian “Master Rasta” Williams and Dexter “Peck” Francis denied the Maloney team for the remainder of the game.
Earlier, Rangers Under-14s won a four-way mini-series, first shutting out Dingle Boys 6-0 on a hat-trick by Trey Hart and other goals from Keane McIvor, Regan Galteau and Raychard Allen.
And after Maloney Youths ousted Elements on penalty kicks, Rangers edged the host team 1-0 in the final on Luke Hernandez’s goal.
In an under-12 match, Elements edged Maloney Youths 1-0.
Trey Hart got the prize for scoring the most goals, while McIvor got an award for being most exciting player.
Ross Russell was named best goalkeeper among the seniors with Shurland David getting the prize for being best Maloney player.
