Female drivers hurt in accident
Both women were driving south along the highway when the incident occurred.
According to reports, at about 10.15 am, Pamela Haal was driving her Nissan B14 south along the highway when she lost control of the car which struck another vehicle. Both vehicles went off the highway and overturned into the drain.
Motorists who witnessed the accident pulled the two injured women out of their cars. The accident caused a massive traffic pile-up, as motorists slowed down to catch a glimpse of the two victims writhing in pain at the side of the highway.
Several concerned motorists stayed with both victims until an ambulance arrived about 45 minutes after the accident to take them to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) in Mt Hope. The vehicles were subsequently towed to the Chaguanas Police Station.
Investigations are continuing.
