No more Cross talk
Is this an easy task? For whatever is created or submitted must be not only wholly appropriate but must satisfy everyone irrespective of colour, class or creed. And this goes for all peoples who are neither Muslims nor Hindus. The Chinese are an endangered species so that they cannot be found to give an opinion.
Now we are on the road to other options to many things. The Holy Cross church in Princes Town must be renamed. Cross Crossing may be named South Road Junction here is where Christ was crucified in San Fernando. And what about the star of David/emblem on the policeman’s hat? Must Indian and Muslim police constables now wear caps and unadorned obsolete cork hats? The Red Cross may be changed. And, will it mean that some people may refrain from eating cross buns, playing crossword puzzles and not look at cross country programmes? What will be done with the crosses in the cemetery? You cannot talk about crossing the road neither find yourself over a narrow crossing and you cannot cross talk or say that you have crosses to bear. And will the Trinity Hills be now named The Three Peaks?
Without being facetious — I just thought about the whole idea of change, which is normal in any developing society. But change that will not stir up dead dust.
