No bail for Robo Cop

Alexis, Dereck John and Kevin Simpson made an application before Madame Justice Alice Yorke-Soo Hon at the Port-of-Spain Assizes after they had been denied bail by Sangre Grande Magistrate Cheryl Gordon.

When the matter was called before the judge yesterday, the men’s bail application was again turned down.

The three men, along with Sheldon “Skelly” Lovell were on April 26 committed to stand trial for the kidnapping of Sangre Grande jeweller Henry Francis.

Francis was abducted on June 9, 2002 near his home at Sankersingh Drive, Quash Trace, in Sangre Grande. He was released two days later on the highway in the vicinity of Santa Rosa Heights, Arima. Attorney Wayne Sturge appeared on behalf of the men, while attorney Nigel Pilgrim represented the State.
