Sean Luke matter postponed again
The teenagers — a 13-year-old and a 16-year-old of Orange Valley, made their sixth appearance on Tuesday before Couva magistrate Marcia Ayres-Caesar. When the boys were escorted into the courtroom, the 16-year-old accused was seen clutching tightly in his right hand a religious book titled: Caribbean Worship and Song — Jesus Christ Saviour — AD 2000 Revision.
Defence attorney Wayne Sturge, who represented the 13-year-old accused, requested that the magistrate review the applications and submissions which were made on May 26.
The attorney informed the court that he had an additional application to make. Members of the media were asked to vacate the courtroom.
On their return, Magistrate Ayres-Caesar again warned that matters pertaining to the case are not to be to published. Luke’s aunt, Marilyn Persad, stood up in court and asked Ayres-Caesar to explain to the family members present in court the applications and submissions made by both the defence and State attorneys. Again members of the media were asked to leave the courtroom. State attorney Nigel Pilgrim informed the magistrate that the prosecution was ready to proceed with the case. Pilgrim held for Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard. The boys were remanded into custody and the matter was adjourned to June 26.
