The small forward netted ten points in the third quarter of Monday night’s game as the Army-Coast Guard combination went on a 28-22 run to hold a 73-65 lead.

Clippers, also unbeaten entering Monday’s contest, closed to within five points behind the shooting of Simon Moreno who sunk 14 of his 21 points in the third period.

But Lewis responded with a crucial 12 points as the defending champions held firm until the final buzzer.

Lewis had ten of his team’s 35 points including two alley-oop dunks.

Kervis King chipped in with 15 and Peter Lewis 13 for the Army-Coast Guard men, while forward Kerwin “Chinee” Lares led the Clippers scoring with a season-best 28 points while Miguel Williams added 22.

In a Second Division encounter, Straker Nets registered their fourth successive win as they trounced W&S Pistons 98-74.

Jamille King led Straker Nets with 28 points, Jason Cobbler had 19 and O’Jamine Pryce 15.

Sedley De Montrichard got 25 points for Pistons, Shornell Pompey added 20 and Neil Joseph ten. Action in the league will continue at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex today with a double-header from 6.15 pm.

T&T Elite play Detour Shak Attack in the Second Division from 6.15 pm, while the T&T Elite men take on TUCO Macoya Forum from 8 pm.
