Sancho proposal a BBC stunt

BRENT SANCHO has not proposed to his girlfriend, Jana Herbert-Fiu. But this does not mean that he does not intend to or that their relationship is in some kind of trouble.

On the contrary the national footballer’s love life couldn’t be better. This was the word coming out of the Trinidad and Tobago football team camp yesterday after a BBC report suggested that the dreadlocked defender had proposed to his girlfriend after the match against England on Thursday in Nuremberg.

The report further stated that a reporter was used as a go-between for the footballer and his main “squeeze” to pledge his undying love for her and his desire to spend the rest of his life with him.

However the report on the Internet was all a hoax and a stunt successfully pulled off by the BBC who have contracted Sancho for a series of articles for their website. Naturally Sancho was said to be not too amused at the media attention the story attracted in Germany and back home in Trinidad and Tobago.

A source in Rotenburg said the defender refuses to be distracted from the business of football at hand and together with his teammates are seriously preparing for the last match of their group which they must win against Paraguay by three clear goals and hope England defeat Sweden in Group “B”. Sancho has been a revelation for the Soca Warriors at the World Cup Finals providing stability and versatility to the back line and some measure of offence, qualities which have made the team very difficult to score against.
