Gunmen rob South eating place

GUNMEN escaped with over $30,000, a security guard’s gun and 15 rounds of ammunition after they staged a robbery at a grilled food business place in San Fernando on Saturday night.

The robbery took place at about 10.45 pm, 15 minutes before “EAT IT,” at Scott Street, was about to close.

According to a police report, the employees were about to put the money, which represented the day’s sales, into the vault when five men stormed into the place.

The gunmen then held up the security guard, employed with Innovative Security firm, and took away his gun and 15 rounds of ammunition.

Police said two of the bandits jumped over the counter and ordered the employees to hand over the money.

The other three kept their guns pointed at the guard and customers.

Police said one of the gunmen also snatched a cell phone from a customer, before they ran off. Cpl Ramroop of the San Fernando CID is continuing investigations.
