Labour day awards
the seven posthumous awardees were: the late Dykes George; Ulric Mason; Paul Brown; Fred Duncan; Percival Sutton; Franklyn Wells and Clyde “Tank” Bernard.
Son of the soil and international renowned singer Vernon “Billy Ocean” Charles was also given an award for his contribution in the field of music.
Unfortunately, Ocean, who resides in England, was unable to return to the country for the awards ceremony.
The ceremony, which was well attended, was organised by the Fyzabad Improvement Commit-tee.
The committee is headed by Arthur Sanderson.
The function was held at the Fyzabad Regional Complex in Guapo Village.
The Tubal Uriah Buzz Butler awards has become an annual event to commemorate Labour Day.
It will be celebrated today with a public holiday.
