TT stunned the world
Like the water shortage they complained of when they played Paraguay and didn’t score. Let’s now use the fact that Latapy was not selected on June 15, as the reason the Warriors did not score a goal? I was in Germany for the match against England.
The Warriors played exceptionally well, showed tact and tenacity, which made me, and my party of fellow Trinis feel so proud. Nothing will ever take away from the impact TT Soca Warriors have made on the world as a result of World Cup 2006. If TT was not prominent in the world before, they are now.
I refuse to let the lack of scoring dampen the high I am on and I am thankful that Trinis in London continue to show pride irrespective of what others perceived to be failure. We will continue to be proud of our nation long after World Cup 2006 comes to an end. Let’s put our good and bad points down to experience, after all that’s how we learn and improve.
We were unknown to many until we qualified for the World Cup and from what I’ve seen in Germany we are no longer the ‘‘unknown’’ but a nation that came and stunned the football world while capturing the euphoria.
