Wanted: More strong black women
While I understand the point Ms Lovelace was making, what I would like to say on the issue is that if there were probably more strong black women out there willing to stand by their black men then maybe the issue may not exist, and I say this from being a young black and single parent of two girls.
We “black men” are also losing our women to men of other ethnic backgrounds, which most of the time tends to be a rich one, so I guess as the saying goes “the pendulum swings both ways.” So I think rather than be struck with grief over the loss of another “brother” and “douglarisation,” we as men and women need to take a deeper look inwards and ask ourselves if we are really willing to stand by each other, regardless of race, but as one person to another and if so, take that step.
