DOMA sad about TT

In a statement yesterday, DOMA said it had hoped that the national pride evoked by the Warriors’ accomplishment would have created some kind of permanent pride in the society and a determination “to overcome the difficulties that we face.”

However DOMA lamented that the Warriors’ achievement appears to have had the temporary effect of a passing cloud and many people seem to have “gone back to their old ways.” DOMA said it was alarmed by the deafening silence about the recent murder of 15-year old Simon King and the number of murdered children per capita threatens to put TT in “a new international category of notoriety.”

DOMA also lamented reports about robberies and muggings in Port-of-Spain and complaints from police officers at the mobile unit on the Brian Lara Promenade about poor facilities they have to work with. DOMA added that even while that unit was new, robberies occurred in close proximity to it.

DOMA said TT is becoming a place which people hardly recognise and the population needs to raise its voice on critical issues facing the society.
