Hit with 33,000 volts

ROOSEVELT Marlon Teesdale yesterday thanked God that he was alive to tell the story following Wednesday’s freak accident in which he was almost electrocuted when 33,000 volts of electricity passed through his body.

“He can barely speak, but he still thanked God for him being alive,” Teesdale’s sister Esthel told Newsday yesterday.

Teesdale accidentally came into contact with TTEC electricity wires while he was overseeing the painting of the roof of a house in Esperance Village near San Fernando on Wednesday.

His sister spoke to Newsday outside the San Fernando General Hospital where he remains warded with burns to over 50 percent of his body.

The relieved woman said the few words her brother whispered to her, were praises to the Almighty for sparing his life. “The tears were running down his face when I saw him after it happened on Wednesday,” Esthel said.

Teesdale, 43, of Princes Town was literally set alight by the volts of electricity which passed through his body when he came into contact with the wires which are connected to overhead TTEC transformers.

The relieved woman said her brother’s condition, while still very bad, was improving everyday and she and the rest of their family were also very thankful that he is alive and they are praying for his recovery.
