Bring back Panday

Without Panday the UNC seems to be lost at sea without a rudder. Mr Panday has been a large part of national politics for over 40 years. He commands a lot of personal support among the UNC grassroots. He is certainly the last of a generation of leaders who sprung up out of the Caribbean labour movement after Independence to enter politics and re-shape their societies. In this regard he is a piece of walking history and most certainly an asset to the UNC.

It may be that for the UNC to be saved from itself, Mr Panday must return as Chairman and guide the ship that is the UNC to a safe port. If not it seems that the main Opposition Party is headed for the rocks. While this may bring joy and hapiness to some in the PNM and in the UNC we must know that there is a need for a strong Parliamentary Opposition if the institution of democracy is to have a good bill of health.

If that means that Mr Panday must return...then so be it.
