Machel Montano happy

Police yesterday recovered a quantity of musical equipment valued at $250,000 which was stolen from soca star Machel Montano’s band room at Gordon Street, Port-of-Spain, on May 2.

The officers led by Inspector Stewart of the Port-of-Spain CID, found the equipment in an abandoned car, on Duncan Street following a tip-off on Tuesday night.

Two keyboards, two 606 drum machines, Machel’s personal cordless microphone, a drum bag belonging to Kernal Roberts, who is the band’s drummer, a Compact Disc player and a Bacardi backpack were among the items recovered.

Montano told Newsday yesterday that he was thankful to the police for recovering the stolen equipment.

“God is great,” he said, adding that he had already replaced the equipment.

“We had a lot of shows during that period of time,” Montano said.

Montano said he will be dedicating one of his songs to the police at the Bowen Marine, “Colours of We” party on Saturday night.
