Girl, 2, dies in fire

Reports revealed that the child’s mother was hanging clothes to dry outside the house leaving two-year-old Atiba Dick inside.

Shortly after, the mother noticed smoke coming from the house and rushed to save her daughter. By that time, the house was already engulfed in flames and the baby could not be saved.

Fire officers from Moruga rushed to the scene but were unable to save the house. Upon investigation, fire officers found the charred remains of the girl inside the burnt out house.

Up to late last evening the origin of the fire remained unknown.
