Midsummer Classic draws 16 runners

The second classic of the season over 1900 metres, will be run off on August 1 at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, when Sara’s Music, winner of the Bookmakers Association Guineas will be hoping to stay on course for the triple. At the fourth entry stage, a total of $53,600 was collected.

Meanwhile, last year’s Royal Oak Derby winner and runner-up Crown Point are set for a re-match in the President’s Cup also over 1900 metres on the same day.

From a field of 16 at the second entry stage, three have declined — Latonia; Northern Regency and This Cat Is Back, leaving 13 to challenge for the top prize money. Also in the field is the improving Hello Yankee and Lekh Raj who has been in tremendous form lately.
