7 held with $5M in cocaine

Around 3.40 pm on Wednesday, members of the Organised Crime, Narcotics and Firearms Bureau, headed by Sgt Baldeo Nanan, arrested two persons, a 30 year-old African and a woman, 20. The police reportedly found two kilos of cocaine hidden inside ten portable water heaters.

The police continued inquiries and one hour later, two Africans and a 46-year-old Point Fortin man, were held with 600 grammes of cocaine hidden inside power amps.

On Thursday, the police went to Montrose Street, Chaguanas and seized 700 grammes of cocaine.

All the cocaine was valued at $2 million. Around 1.30 pm, yesterday, the police went to a house at Twelfth Street, Barataria and held two brothers of Bedasie Street, Enterprise, Chaguanas. During a search, police found $3 million worth of cocaine hidden in a large wooden chest.

Police said the cocaine was destined for Holland. Investigators said there was a ring operating between Trinidad and Holland and involving Africans illegally in this country.
