Year-end wedding for Bunji and Faye-Ann

Ian Alvarez aka Bunji Garlin asked Lyons, his girlfriend of over two years, to be his wife while they were in New York a couple of weeks ago. In true traditional romantic style Garlin got down on one knee and asked the love of his life to become his life-long partner. A small party followed at a house in Brooklyn.

When they returned to TT, the lovebirds celebrated this momentous occasion with a hastily arranged engagement party on Friday which was also Garlin’s 28th birthday. Only the couple’s closest friends and family members were invited to the party and told of their plans to wed.

Garlin said that Super Blue, Lyons’ father, was unable to attend the engagement celebration because he had to perform at a show that night, but that they were able to speak to each other.

Lyons said that even though she and Garlin had talked about getting married his proposal still came as a surprise. The ring she revealed is made of white gold and comprises several diamonds but refused to disclose the exact karat or cost of her newest piece of jewelry.

She said she was excited about planning for her wedding but she and her husband-to-be had not worked out the details.

“Right now we just focusing on our day to day commitments we have not started planning or worked out the details as yet” she said. As for the dress the usually stylish Lyons had not yet decided on a designer.

“I have to look around for that perfect dress and I am not sure if I will go with a local or foreign designer,” she said.

She did say though that one aspect of the planning had been finalised and that was the location. “The wedding will definitely be held in Trinidad,” she said.

When asked if she would retain Lyons as her last name in the soca arena she admitted that she had not thought that far ahead as yet.
